Diamond grit is by far the best material to put an edge on a knife any knife. This unit resembles a large pen with a pocket clip. The sharpening steel slides into the pen body and is held in place with a knurled collet. The sharpening part will extend to 120mm out of the body. One side is round and the other side is flat. This will enable you to do a thorough sharpening job. We would say that this unit will give many, many years of service.
